Maggie Madden – Site Line
The Lab, Dublin City Council Arts Office, Foley Street, Dublin 1
Until June 30th

It’s been two weeks and we’re still talking about it, which puts it as the best solo exhibition we’ve seen this year. Fiber optic strands form ‘impossible’ structures whose complexity out natures nature. Scores of laminate samples cantilever out of walls, there are un-manipulated natural objects too, but they are so carefully presented in the show that you almost believe they are from the artist’s hands. Maggie Madden’s show is everything you’d want a visit to a gallery to be. We marveled at the technical virtuosity – we still can’t figure some of it out and we were engaged by the innovative use of materials, making our own narratives for the pieces. Site Line ends in 10 days. It’s well worth a look.
